Thief Steals Helmet from Cow Parade Sculpture

Friday September 22, 2006
A local prankster has stolen the helmet from the John Lynch Broncow sculpture, one of the fiberglass cows in the Denver Cow Parade. Broncos player John Lynch autographed the Broncow, and the cow wears full blue-and-orange regalia.

The perp remains at large, and the motive also remains unclear. Perhaps a misguided Broncos fan desperately needed a cow-sized helmet? The helmet was discovered missing on Thursday, and Cow Parade officials are offering a $100 gift certificate for its return.

The cow still holds its own in the parade, albeit without a helmet, on 2nd and St. Paul in Cherry Creek North in front of Peaberry Coffee. The Cow Parade is in town until Oct. 18.
