Colorado Votes for Obama

Sen. Barack Obama swept the race for president, and Colorado voted for a Democratic candidate for the first time in recent history. The Democratic National Convention paid off for the Democratic party in capturing votes in Western states, with traditionally Republican New Mexico also voting blue. Obama will assume office on Jan. 20, 2009 as the first African-American president in U.S. history.
