El Anatsui, a contemporary African artist, visited the Denver Art Museum to share his inspiration for his mixed-media works. "When I left art school, one of the conscious decisions I made was to find media in my own environment," he said. Anatsui has worked with wood, pottery and metal materials such as bottle caps to create compelling works of art. "El Anatsui: When I Last Wrote to You about Africa" opens today at the Denver Art Museum, and will be on display through Dec. 30, 2012.
