Colorado Leanest State in Nation
Friday July 18, 2008
According to a new study on obesity by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Colorado ranks as the leanest state in the nation. Colorado has the lowest percentage of obese people in the U.S. at 19 percent. The random telephone survey polled adults nationwide about their weight and height. Mississippi clocked in at the most obese state, with more than 30 percent of respondents categorized as obese. But it's not all due to Coloradoans' love for the outdoors and loathing of fatty foods, as high altitude alone makes the body burn more calories.
