Film on the Rocks 2012

Film on the Rocks features outdoor showings of second-run films at the outdoor amphitheater of Red Rocks. The 2012 line-up includes "Iron Man," "Bridesmaids" and "Spirited Away." Purchase advance tickets for $12 at King Soopers or online from the Denver Film Society. Tickets are also available at the door for a higher price.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and you might want to arrive early to find a good seat. Live music precedes each screening at 7 p.m., and the movie starts at dusk. Bringing alcohol into Red Rocks is prohibited, but food is allowed. Keep in mind the parking lots for Red Rocks will usually have a traffic jam after the movie, so allow about an hour to leave.

This year, Film on the Rocks is offering Party Bus tickets for $50 for screenings. The tickets include transportation on party buses to and from Red Rocks from downtown Denver, as well as drinks and food at Rackhouse Pub at 208 Kalamath St. VIP tickets with reserved seating are also available for $30. The VIP tickets include food and beer at the Red Rocks Trading Post.

"Hanging out under the stars with friends and listening to great bands and watching some of the most memorable films at the iconic Red Rocks is an extraordinary experience," said Britta Erickson, festival director for the Denver Film Society, in a statement. The 13th-annual season of Film on the Rocks is presented by Pepsi.
