The Starz Denver Film Festival will showcase independent films, documentaries and foreign films at the 36th-annual film festival from Nov. 6 - 17, 2013. The full line-up for the festival will be announced on Oct. 21, and tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013.

"Reflecting what is being called the most competitive Oscar season in recent memory, the 36th Starz Denver Film Festival will present Denver with premieres of four outstanding Red Carpet films from acclaimed SDFF alumni filmmakers Jason Reitman, Alexander Payne, John Wells and Andy Garcia," said Festival Director Britta Erickson in a statement. "We certainly will be 'painting the town red' from start to finish as we celebrate some of awards seasons most buzz-worthy films."

The buzz-worthy releases include "Labor Day," a drama starring Kate Winslet from director Jason Reitman, who also directed "Up in the Air." Reitman, the son of "Ghostbusters" producer Ivan Reitman, has earned a following in his own right for his edgy comedies such as "Juno" and "Thank You For Smoking."

Last year's films at the festival included "Silver Linings Playbook," which earned actress Jennifer Lawrence an Oscar for her performance. Past films featured at the festival have included critically-acclaimed fare such as "The Artist" and "The Descendants" in 2011. The festival also featured "Black Swan" and "127 Hours" in 2010.

Sponsored by Denver cable channel Starz, the 12-day festival also includes documentaries and short films. This year, the festival will also focus on films from the Netherlands. "With nearly 200 titles, a ten-film focus on the Netherlands, an impressive array of locally produced work and a year-end survey of 2013's best festival films, SDFF 36 is shaping up to be one of the strongest in years," said Artistic Director Brit Withey in a statement.

This year, regular screenings will take place at the Sie FilmCenter at 2510 E. Colfax Ave or the UA Denver Pavilions Stadium 15 in downtown Denver. Red carpet events and special events will be held either at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and the Wolf Theatre at the JCC Denver. Tickets for most films are $10 - $13 for the general public, and may be purchased at the Starz Film Center box office or online at denverfilm.org. Red carpet events are listed below.
