From the Chatfield Corn Maze to Boo at the Zoo, check out fun events for children in the Mile High City. Two haunted houses even offer lights-on tours to keep the ghoulies and ghosties from frightening the kids too badly.

  • Boo at the Zoo
    Saturday, Oct. 31 and Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009
    Denver Zoo
    2300 Steele St.
    From 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., bring your kids in costume to the zoo for trick-or-treats with superheroes such as Spiderman and Catwoman. Zoo admission is $7 for children and $12 for adults.

  • Chatfield Corn Maze

    Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield
    8500 Deer Creek Canyon Rd. (Littleton)
    Get lost in an 8-acre corn maze constructed by the botanic gardens staff for a Halloween adventure.
    Open Fri. - Sun. from Sept. 4 - Oct. 31, 2009
    Fri. 4 - 10 p.m.
    Sat. 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
    Sun. 12 noon - 10 p.m.
    Tickets are $5 for children and $10 for adults. Ticket sales end one hour before closing each night. On Oct. 11 and 12, you can also pick your own pumpkin at the Pumpkin Festival at Chatfield for $3 more for adults and $2 more for children.

  • Colorado Haunted History Tours
    Morrison (located 17 miles southwest of Denver)
    Tours offered on selected dates from Oct. 9 - Oct. 31, 2009
    Relive the spirited history of the Wild West with this 1 1/2 hour walking tour through Morrison. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Call 1-888-649-3849 for reservations.

  • Elitch Gardens FrightFest
    2000 Elitch Cir.
    Every weekend in October
    Don't miss the haunted processional at dusk for a parade of all the zombies, demons and ghouls in Denver. A slightly less scary path awaits at the Trick-or-Treat trail. Admission is $34.99 for adults and $19.99 for children under 48".

  • Haunted Mansion
    5663 S. Prince St. (Littleton)
    Open Sept. 25 - Nov. 1, 2009
    Haunted Mansion offers a kid's tour with the lights on Sat. and Sun. from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tickets are $6 for children and adults for the kid's tour.

  • Shriek Manor
    901 E. 10th Ave.
    Open Oct. 17 - Oct. 31, 2009
    Shriek Manor is not a haunted house, but is a free Halloween display with lights, animatronic creatures and special effects.

  • Trick or Treat Street
    Wednesday, Oct. 29 - Friday, Oct. 31, 2009
    The Children's Museum of Denver
    2121 Children's Museum Dr.
    From 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. or 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., bring your kids in costume to the children's museum for trick or treating and a monster-themed carnival. Museum admission is $7.50.
