School's out, and your kids are already driving you crazy. Here's a sampling of area summer day camps to harness all that excess energy. All camps listed are coed with full-day programs.

  • Avid 4 Adventure
    If your kid is a miniature adrenaline junkie, sign them up for adventure camp that includes rock climbing and kayaking. Cost is $350 per week for the full-day camp from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. for ages 5-12. Sessions run weekly from May 30 - August 14, 2009. Choose from five camp locations in Boulder, Denver, Golden/Wheat Ridge, Longmont and Highlands Ranch.

  • Camp Invention
    A week-long adventure into the heart of invention for children entering grades 1 - 6. Cost is $205 for the week from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Denver dates and locations are listed below. Additional locations available in the suburbs of Denver.

    June 8 - June 12, 2009: McKinley-Thatcher Elementary School
    June 13 - June 17, 2009: William Roberts School
    July 13 - July 27, 2009: Southmoor Elementary

  • Denver Botanic Gardens Day Camp
    Dig into a weeklong camp at the Botanic Gardens for children ages 5 - 16. Cost is $209 members for the week, or $229 for non-members. Camp hours are from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dates and sessions are listed below.

    June 22 - June 26, 2009: Plant-o-Saurus Discovery (ages 6-12)
    July 6 - July 24, 2009: KidCamp (ages 6 - 12) for three weekly sessions
    July 27 - July 31, 2009: P.S.I.: Plant Science Investigators (ages 12-14)

  • Denver Chess Camp
    Checkmate for ages 6 - 18. Cost is $349 for the 5-day camp, or $239 for the 3-day camp. Camp hours are from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. A half-day option is also available for the Englewood session for $209. Dates and locations are listed below.

    June 15 - June 19, 2009: Englewood
    July 13 - July 15, 2009: Denver

  • Denver Fencing Center
    En garde! Teach your child how to take out their aggressions in a civilized manner through fencing. Cost is $325 for the week, or $300 for Denver Fencing Center members. Camp hours are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dates and sessions are listed below. Sessions in Golden are also available from June 8 - July 31, 2009.

    June 8 - June 12, 2009: Beginner Foil Camp
    June 15 - June 19, 2009: Beginner Foil/Sabre
    June 22 - June 26, 2009: Competitive Camp
    June 29 - July 1, 2009: US Fencing Nationals Prep
    July 6 - July 10, 2009: Theatrical Fencing Camp
    July 13 - July 17, 2009: Beginner Foil
    July 20 - July 24, 2009: Beginner Foil/Epée
    July 27 - August 1, 2009: Beginner Foil/Sabre

  • Denver Museum of Nature & Science
    Camps for younger children are mostly full, but the museum still has space available for grades 4 - 6. Cost is $250 per week for members or $275 for non-members. Camp sessions run from June 8 - August 14, 2009. Camp hours are 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Scholarships available.

  • Denver Summer in the Park Camps
    The City of Denver offers an affordable option for summer camp for ages 7 - 12 at select Denver parks. Cost is $400 for the summer. Camp hours are from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Dates and locations are listed below. Scholarships available.

    June 8 - July 31, 2009: City Park Pavilion – 23rd & York St.
    June 8 - July 31, 2009: Congress Park – 8th & Josephine St.
    June 8 - July 31, 2009: Fred Thomas Park – 23rd & Syracuse St.
    June 8 - July 31, 2009: Rosamond Park – S. Tamarac & Quincy St.
    June 8 - July 31, 2009: Sloan’s Lake – 26th & Stuart St.

  • DU Pass Camp
    The University of Denver plays host to budding athletes from ages 6 -12 with the Pioneer Athletic Super Summer camp. Cost is $199 per week for DU affiliates or $219 per week for non-members. Camp hours are 8:15 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Camp sessions run weekly from June 2 - August 15, 2008.

  • iD Tech Camps
    If you can't pry your kid away from the Xbox, why not send them to summer camp for video game creation? Ages 7 - 17 can take classes in video game design, computer programming, and other techie delights in this week-long camp held at the University of Denver. Cost is $779 per week. Camp hours are 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Mon. - Thurs. and 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Fri. Camp sessions run weekly from June 21 - August 7, 2009.

  • Rocky Mountain Theatre Camps
    Theater camp sessions run for two to four weeks, and culminate in a performance for the aspiring actor in your life. Cost varies from $675 for the two-week sessions to $1250 for the four-week sessions. Camp hours are 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Half-day camps for children 5 - 8 are also available.

    June 1 – June 26, 2009: Seussical (ages 8 - 16)
    June 29 – July 10, 2009: Hollywood to Broadway! (ages 8 - 12)
    June 29 - July 10, 2009: The Complete Sixty Minute Shakespeare (ages 11 - 16)
    July 13 – August 7, 2009: High School Musical 2 (ages 8 - 16)
