1. Father's Day 5K
What: Father's Day 5K

Location: Apex Center, Arvada
Cost: $35 day of race (includes tech shirt and pancake breakfast)
Work up a sweat with dear old dad at the Father's Day 5K along the Ralston Creek Trail. A 1-mile fun run/walk is also scheduled for armchair athletes. Proceeds benefit the non-profit Apex Park and Recreation District Foundation, which has designated the funds for after-school recreation programs at Arvada middle schools.
2. Rockies vs. Tigers
What: Colorado Rockies vs. Detroit Tigers
Time: 1:10 p.m. Sun. June 19, 2011
Location: Coors Field

Take Dad out the ballgame, and buy him some peanuts and cracker jacks for good measure. The Colorado Rockies play the Detroit Tigers in the third game of a three-game series. If your dad prefers mellowing out with jazz instead of rooting for the Rockies, pack a picnic dinner and head to City Park jazz. Rekha Ohal performs a free concert in the park for dads and other jazz fans.
4. Denver Public Golf Courses
What: Golf at public golf courses
Location: Across metro Denver
Time: Tee times from sunrise to sunset
Cost: $22 - $35 for 18 holes
Hit the greens without breaking the bank at one of eight Denver public golf courses. The City & County of Denver runs par 3, 9-hole and 18-hole courses as well as driving ranges and one miniature golf course. Call 303-784-4000 in advance to make reservations.
5. Father's Day Restaurant Specials
Several Denver restaurants are offering special promotions for Father's Day. McCormick & Schmick's offers a mixed-grill dinner for $29.95, while Wild Bangkok Bar and Grill offers dad a free dessert or appetizer. If Dad prefers lighter fare, take him out for a Father's Day brunch.
