Kizuna: West Meets East Photos

The Kanawa sculptures are larger-than-life depictions of nature molded on site from green bamboo. The sculptures arrived as raw materials, and the artists molded the bamboo forms at the gardens.

"This is truly site-specific," said Riley-Chetwynd. "All of the bamboo you see here is just made for this site."

"Kizuna: West Meets East" is on display at the Denver Botanic Gardens from May 5 - Nov. 4, 2012.
