1. Yogurt Guru
Yogurt Guru opened in Cherry Creek North in 2010, and provides nirvana for your taste buds on a hot summer day. The locally-owned store offers frozen yogurt by weight, and patrons can add a variety of toppings to the frozen treats. The small storefront offers limited seating, but crowds usually gather outside to sit on benches in the area. The only drawback to the wisdom of the Yogurt Guru? Cherry Creek North charges for street parking before 7 p.m.

Pinkberry hails from the Golden State of California, and offers Coloradoans frozen yogurt with up to three toppings. The concept works well, but Pinkberry might be a victim of its own success. I waited in line for more than 20 minutes at the location on Colorado Blvd., and almost finished my frozen yogurt before I made it to the cash register. If you don't mind waiting in line, Pinkberry offers mini, small, medium and large choices with a wide selection of toppings.

Cherry on Top also originated in California, the land of eternal summer. The franchise has several locations across the West, and the store in the lower level of Cherry Creek Mall took the place of a Häagen-Dazs. Cherry on Top offers frozen yogurt by the ounce, with a variety of toppings not limited to cherries.

Kuulture, located in Larimer Square, offers a downtown alternative to the frozen yogurt scene. Shoppers near the 16th Street Mall can top off an afternoon with some frozen yogurt, and Kuulture stays open until 11 p.m. in the summer to capture club-goers as their night begins. The yogurt store provides tasty treats, but at a bit of a price premium due to the location.

Yogurtland, another franchise from California, has four locations in the Denver metro area. Yogurt is sold by the ounce, and patrons can add a wide selection of toppings. All the Yogurtland locations in the Denver area are open until 10 p.m., making it a popular date night destination. Besides the Yogurtland near 6th & Grant, the franchise has stores in Arvada, Centennial and Littleton.
